Framing is key for this study, as both subjects are facing the centre but in parallel.

With it's more flat colours, the composition is the aspect that carries it. I also enjoyed the contrast of the two characters in tones, it really adds another level of depth.

As a person with a paler complexion, I relate to the figure on the right.
